MILLWALL FC and Millwall Community Trust have signed a ground-breaking partnership agreement with FC Puerto Del Carmen of Lanzarote.   Following the signing of the agreement, FC Puerto Del Carmen brought a squad of 25 players and 7 coaching staff over to the UK to for four fixtures, playing Millwall Community Trust’s Post 16 Academy side twice, then Millwall FC’s Under 16s side, as well as a fixture against non-league Welling United’s under 17 side.   Alongside their fixtures, the group from Lanzarote enjoyed a stadium tour at The Den and the chance to go out on the pitch before watching Millwall draw 1-1 with Leeds United.   As part of the agreement, FC Puerto Del Carmen will send select squads, including a girls’ team, of the island’s most promising players, to train and play against teams from both Millwall Community Trust and Millwall FC’s academy. Those players with FC Puerto Del Carmen see as showing exceptional promise, will have the opportunity to come over to the UK for trials with Millwall’s academy.   Millwall Community Trust, alongside the club, will send coaches to Lanzarote to run soccer camps, as well as providing scouting expertise and coaching advice to the staff at FC Puerto Del Carmen.   Over Easter, FC Puerto Del Carmen will host an international tournament called “The Puerto Del Carmen Lions Cup” with teams from Millwall and Millwall Community Trust’s academies going over to Lanzarote to take part.   As well as the relationships between the academies, Millwall FC will have the opportunity to travel to Lanzarote and use FC Puerto Del Carmen as a possible base for a winter training camp.     Sean Daly, Football Development Manager at Millwall Community Trust said “This is a really exciting time for us at Millwall Community Trust.
