DIVERT is a Metropolitan Police custody-based intervention programme for 18–25-year-olds, delivered by Bounce Back and funded by the London Violence Reduction Unit.
At Lewisham Police Station custody suite, Custody Intervention Coaches (CICs) engage young adults at their most vulnerable point — immediately after arrest — creating a safe, non-judgemental space for 1:1 coaching, mentoring, and tailored support.
This includes pathways into education, training, employment, housing, mental health, and substance misuse services, as well as wider community opportunities.
Crucially, support continues beyond release, building trust and consistency. The long-term goal is to break cycles of offending by strengthening confidence, resilience, and creating sustainable futures where young adults can thrive and contribute positively.
