Our A team for the Post 16s faced Norwich City at St Paul’s , after Croydon Kinetic faced off against our B team.

The opening period of play was very tight, no one really being able to make a difference on the attacking front for either team.

A powerful Norwich counter attack would resort into the target man being fouled in the box resulting into a penalty. Owen made a brilliant save to deny him however, pushing the soft shot onto the post! A crucial moment in the game and  one that could change the whole momentum of the game.

Millwall would reply instantly as Ty was slipped in by Caden and plucked his effort off the post and in as the young Lions took the lead! In the last few minutes it is very hard to imagine what could’ve gone better for the boys.

Not much would come after that, which makes the next goal mean everything. Thankfully, Millwall have a difference maker in Ty. As he nicked the ball off the rightback, he charges towards the box and slides Justin in for a tapin which he converts. Millwall in their stride and Ty is a man on fire.

Norwich hadn’t really come up with an answer to the onslaught so far, but they have had bright sparks. A proper battle in the box forced Owen to make a double save, before a corner went well wide of the mark.

Norwich made those sparks turn into patches, then eventually it paid off. The Norwich winger placing one past Owen.

Millwall would come out all guns blazing in the second half, as very early a ball from the left flank fell to Mustafa who was arriving at the right post to slam it home in the bottom left corner. Champagne football from the Lions.

The Canaries were sinking, and it was evident. The energy, the passing and overall the play was just not touching Millwall at all. Mustafa added to the delight, poaching his second of the afternoon to give the young Lions a 3 goal cushion.

Norwich needed something to spark a comeback, and they got it. The striker found clear space towards the left post and smacking it top bins.

Millwall responded instantly, in incredible fashion too. A ball whipped in from the right side of the pitch found Ty, who hit it on the volley and sneaked past the keeper to secure the hatrick. 5 goals, 5 star performance. Incredible.

Even better was to come, straight after the 5th Justin would produce a magical finish to make it 6.

Norwich still would not give up. Another well worked move into the box allowed the Norwich man to get the shot off and curl it into the bottom corner. What a game of football this was turning out to be.

Norwich were putting up a brilliant fight, a well drilled header from a corner brought back another for the visitors. Is the impossible starting to look possible?

It would be an extremely nervy ending, the aerial threat from Norwich was definitely there, another header bulged the back of the net off the back of a cross to make it 6-5.

A snapshot across the face of Owen’s goal almost completed the crazy comeback.

Norwich had the golden opportunity, a penalty. A handball in the box led to it being given, which the Norwich man finished. Heartbreak for our young Lions.

The whistle blew, and it finished 6-6. A truly incredible game of football.
