Millwall Football Club and Millwall Community Trust (MCT) are honoured to announce that they have jointly been awarded the Freedom of the Borough of Southwark.
MCT CEO Sean Daly and EDI Lead Jason Vincent attended a special ceremony at Southwark Cathedral on Saturday morning to collect the award.
The Honorary Freedom of the Borough is the highest award Southwark Council can bestow, recognising individuals or organisations of distinction who have rendered meritorious services to the borough.
In the past six months, MCT have been recognised across both boroughs - Lewisham and Southwark - with the Freedom of the Borough award.
MCT CEO Sean Daly said: “It is a tremendous honour for Millwall Football Club and Millwall Community Trust to jointly receive the Freedom of the London Borough of Southwark.
“This recognition reflects the significant impact we make to our local communities and the incredible dedication of our staff.
“We are proud to use the power of football to create opportunities, inspire young people and make a lasting difference across Southwark.
“This award belongs to everyone connected with Millwall and we are privileged to continue serving the borough.”
