Millwall Community Trust hosted a Premier League Kicks tournament at St Paul’s Sports Ground, Rotherhithe on Monday.

The all day tournament had over 130 participants in attendance from the local area and neighbouring boroughs.

The teams in attendance for the boys were MCT Premier League Kicks, Arsenal, AFC Lions, Active Communities, Player Performance Pathway, Deptford United and Escalate Elite.

The girls tournament had sides from MCT Premier League Kicks Arsenal, Charlton, Player Performance Pathway and two sides from Millwall Lionesses academy.

There were two separate tournaments taking place - a girls’ tournament which had six teams involved and ended in a knockout competition after the group stage positions had been determined.

In attendance at the tournament were Millwall FC first-team duo Josh Coburn and Macaulay Langstaff and Millwall Lionesses’ Olivia Coldrick and Sharna Giordani.

The quartet spoke to participants before handing out medals and trophies.

The boys’ tournament consisted of seven teams once again playing a round robin group stage system before the knockout matches began.

MCT entered six teams into the tournament. Our Player Performance Pathway sides had a boys’ and girls’ side as did our Premier League Kicks side.

As well as this, Millwall Lionesses Academy had two teams involved in the day.

MCT’s Premier League Kicks teams were made up of young people that attend our weekly Premier League Kicks sessions across Lewisham and Southwark.

These events give young people an opportunity to play matches against other teams and represent Millwall in a competitive manner whilst being able to improve their teamwork skills.

Congratulations to Millwall Lionesses Academy who won the girls tournament with Active Communities Network winning the boys tournament.

Joubin Sarrami, Millwall Community Trust Community Manager, said: “What a fantastic day for our young people at our tournament at St Paul’s Sports Ground.

“The tournament gave young people a chance to show their skills and work together as a team.

“It was great to see everyone enjoying themselves whilst showing excellent sportsmanship throughout.”
