RTC Technical Director 

Post Summary:

The designated role RTC Physiotherapist will be responsible for all aspects of medical provision within the RTC for age groups U10-U16. (foundation and youth phase)

Ensuring that an integral and efficient medical service is provided to the RTC .

 

Length of Contract:

Part time  (fixed -term)

Hours / Shifts:

Approximately 6 hrs per week plus matchday including weekends

Flexibility:

In order to work effectively in a changing environment, flexibility is required from the post-holder. 

Description of duties:

1.0  Key Responsibilities

 

  • Be self-motivated, committed and reliable.
  • To deliver provision of all physiotherapy duties associated with the RTC, covering the foundation and youth phases U10-U16 teams
  • Lead all testing and screening of U10-16s throughout the year and liaise with coaches.
  • Physiotherapy cover RTC evening training sessions and weekend matches
  • Keep RTC technical director informed of all medical/injury concerns regarding RTC players
  • Musculo-skeletal assessment of RTC team players;
  • Diagnose, and treat , all injuries sustained by RTC players;
  • Attend specialist appointments/radiology exams with injured U10-U16 players;
  • Inform RTC coaching staff about player “availability” at end of evening session;
  • Ensure that all administrative parts of coaching/work completed (Team sheets. Minutes of playing time for each player)
  • Evidencing of planning and evaluation of sessions and competition.
  • Keep daily records of treatments and record injuries on RTC auditing forms.
  • Ensure all RTC players’ medical files are up to date and stored securely.
  • Lead Academy Physiotherapist with medical consumable stock control and distribution of ‘run-on’ bags to coaches /staff
  • Attend all, whenever possible, internal CPD events and meetings.
  • To be a positive role model, creating a stimulating and fun environment in which to motivate and encourage females to excel in football
  • To develop and maintain effective and positive working relationships with all partners and to attend regular meetings as and when necessary
  • Have the ability to communicate effectivity with players and parents.
  • To agree to abide by a code of conduct and carry out duties in accordance with MCT’s policies, including equal opportunities, child protection, health and safety at work, etc.
  • To undertake other duties and responsibilities as required, commensurate with the grade of the post and be prepared to regularly carry out work during evening and weekend periods.

 

2.0  Safeguarding responsibility

 

·         To be aware of MCT Safeguarding Children Policy its processes and procedures, particularly who MCT DSO is and how they can be contacted and procedures for reporting concerns.

      Safeguarding Certification

·         To hold a valid Millwall or FA Enhanced CRB certificate with checks against relevant barred lists prior to start of employment OR be subscribed to the Disclosure and Baring (DBS) update service on which an online employer certification check will be made

 

·         To hold a valid FA Safeguarding certificate and maintain certified status via FA renewal safeguarding workshops and Millwall Community Trust internal Safeguarding training

   

3.0  General Conditions

Qualifications

·         HCPC Registered physiotherapists or Sport Therapist

·         FA Basic first Aid for Sport (BFAS)

·         Registration with appropriate governing body (HCPC)

·         Holds adequate Indemnity Insurance

·         FA Safeguarding Children Certificate

·         Sports Therapist must hold a degree in sports therapy and have full membership of the society of sports Therapy and have adequate indemnity insurance

•           Gym-based qualifications

 

Experience

·         Experience working as a Physiotherapist within elite sport

·         Experience of working with young athletes

·         Experience of working within paediatrics

·         Experience of working within professional football

·         Experience of working within professional football

Skills and abilities

• Understanding of the benefits of physical activity for children and young people

 

• Knowledge of MCTs programmes

Personal Qualities

• Be self-motivated, committed and reliable

• Ability to prioritise workload

• Excellent interpersonal skills

• Ability to travel independently to matches and training
