Millwall Community Trust Launch Teaching Qualification
MCT are excited to launch a new Level 3 Award in Education & Training, open to any interested participants.
All the information can be found below, and a flyer can be downloaded by clicking HERE
The approved age range for this qualification is 19+. There are no formal entry qualification requirements, but the learners must be considering a subject for delivery and be aiming to achieve / or have achieved a qualification and/or have experience in their subject/skill at the appropriate level for which you are aiming to teach. Learners should undertake an initial assessment of skills in English, mathematics and ICT through their learning provider. The learners will also need to be able to organise written information clearly and coherently. The nature of both the learning and assessment required for these qualifications is such that learners should have the ability to manage the requirements of the level of the qualification they are taking, read and interpret written tasks, and write answers in a legible and understandable form.
Learners who successfully complete this qualification will have a fundamental understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a teacher/trainer in relation to legislation, equality, diversity, inclusivity and meeting the needs of learners. They will be able to sequence learning, plan and deliver sessions, using appropriate resources and teaching methods. They will also be able to identify the characteristics of effective assessment and feedback.
Means of assessment
Theoretical work book and 15 minute micro-teach which learners have to prepare during the evening and deliver on the final day of the programme
Anyone who would like to make their first steps into teaching, or has started and would like a qualification, this qualification is specifically designed for the Post 16 sector. The next step would be the L4 Certificate in Education and Training and then the L5. L4 qualifies you to be a teaching assistant and L5 a teacher in the post 16 sector. So whilst the L3 does not qualify you to be a teacher, it is accepted by many organisations in this sector as a first step and it will generally allow you to teach.
Where it takes you
It’s the start of the pathway to becoming a qualified teacher in the post 16 sector
£380 per person
