Fun at the Holiday football course

  • 05/06/2019

Whitsun football courses at the Lions centre saw the metropolitan police visit the courses to give the participants on the courses an education programme around the police service, the police also brought with them with the riot vans and equipment with a opportunity for the children to play on them.

Organiser of the visit Paul Todd said “The point of our visit was to engage with the children from our community, show them that the police are approachable and get the point across that the police can be approached and are not just people who arrest people and we are there to help. We showed them around the vans, showed them the shields, let the younger ones dress up, explained what our role is and a bit of education about carrying items for other people as they get older etc.

I am the dedicated football officer for Millwall and that role is full time, on non matchday I work with the match commanders of the games and plan the event. On matchday I assist with the running of the operation, briefing serials etc, I am the contact for Millwall and liaise with the safety officer for the games. We are also there on matchdays to help the decent and genuine fans to enjoy their matchday experience”

Sean Daly Acting CEO  quoted “ It’s for great for Paul and his colleagues  to take time out, and meet the children and young people and educate them about the police service, and their roles at Millwall FC on matchdays.
