Millwall Football Club and its Community Trust are coming together to support NHS workers and their families this festive season by donating Christmas gifts as a thank you for their outstanding efforts throughout this challenging year.

The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has been felt immeasurably throughout society but none more so than in hospitals and health centres, where NHS staff have continued to go above and beyond to help those affected by the virus on top of all other injuries and illnesses.

Lions fans can get involved too by visiting the club’s Christmas Virtual Hope Tree here, selecting a star and donating the money relative to the type of gift chosen*. Please do so by Tuesday 22nd December so that all gifts can be delivered in time for Christmas.

Presents can also be gifted by dropping items to the Lions Centre, home of Millwall Community Trust, or by making a financial donation here link and quoting ‘Hope Tree’, after which staff will purchase on your behalf.

The Community Trust’s little helpers will wrap all gifts and deliver them to local hospitals on Wednesday 23rd December, just in time for Christmas!

Steve Kavanagh, Millwall chief executive, said: “This is a superb initiative which we hope will bring a little added festive cheer to those who deserve it most after what has happened throughout 2020.

“It’s been such an incredibly tough and demanding year for so many but especially so for doctors, nurses and other NHS staff, who have had to deal with the impact of the pandemic on top of everything else they normally contend with on a day-to-day basis.

“This is a unique way for the club, Trust and Millwall fans to show their appreciation for those remarkable efforts.”
