Millwall Football Club is delighted to announce that Billy Mitchell has signed a new long-term contract with the club. A local lad from a Millwall family, the 18-year old academy graduate made his league debut for the club against Wigan Athletic on the last day of the 2018/19 season. Mitchell has gone on to make a further five appearances for The Lions in all competitions this season, playing the full 90 minutes in both Emirates FA Cup fixtures against Newport County and Sheffield United and the Carabao Cup fixture at Oxford United. Billy first started his football journey by being talent identified on a community trust football holiday course. He later joined joined Millwall as a schoolboy for the Under 15s and is delighted to have put pen-to-paper on a new contract. Billy commented: "I am absolutely delighted. I was out of contract come June so I'm over the moon to sign my near future to Millwall. It's the club I want to be at. It's the place for me to continue developing as a player. When asked about his recent career trajectory Billy continued: "It's only last year I was playing week in, week out for the under 18's and the 23's towards the end of the season. Then I made my debut at the end of last season. This season has gone from strength to strength. There's still a long way to go but it's been great so far and hopefully it'll continue."
